Community area

The community area works a little bit like Facebook - but better! You can use this area to make weather observations, and short commentaries. New groups can be set up, but we've given everyone a head start by setting up regional groups so you can discuss directly what's going on in your region. The first thing you should do is go to the "Community" area and click on "Groups" within the submenu. Find the group for the area you live in (or are interested in) and then click on the "Join Group" button

Each group can have a moderator, that manages the posts in that group. If you would like to have a go at this, again, let us know

Your personal feed

Just like Facebook, you have a personal feed that aggregates all the updates across the site into one place. It's a great way to see what the latest news is across the site. Once you have logged in, go to the Community area. The Left hand side panel allows you to apply some filters to your feed. For example you can see all, or all updates from your friends etc. You can also filter by application, and by group.

To add something to the site, chose what type of content you would like to add (text status update, photos, videos, events files, links or polls) and type into the box that appears below and click on "Share". If you've used Facebook, this should be very familiar.

There are lots of other features in the community area. Feel free to explore, and add content

 House Rules

In all of our forums, please keep your conversation on theme. Unapproved advertising is a big no-no, as is threatening or abusive behaviour. If that's what you are into then please don't waste our time, because that's not what we are here for. If in doubt, remember that the site is public, and can be used by anyone - in fact we intend encouraging young people to use the site to learn more about the science of Meteorology, so please don't offend.

You should make yourself  familiar with the site Terms and Conditions. If you have your post or membership "moderated" by a moderator, respect their decision. Our moderator team have nothing against you personally, and aggressively arguing your case is unlikely to get a decision changed.

We are continuing to add features to the site. If you notice anything odd, or would like to see a new feature on the site, let us know
